The humble library is a wonderful place and with fewer of them available we need to make sure we love the libraries we have.

They are also a fabulous embodiment of re-use!

Libraries are growing and changing with us, they are no longer quiet, dusty rooms filled with books.  Many have now been designated as warm spaces where the public are welcome to while away some time.

Yes, they still have rooms of books that you can borrow, read and exchange to keep you reading whether you are 1 or 100 and all without the cost of buying, space for storing or waste from getting rid of books.

Did you know that UK libraries had 7.3 million borrowers and that more than half of all UK children visited a library in 19/20?  Just think of all those books being re-used!

But libraries also provide digital access, e-books, audio books and e-magazines.  Some also have video games and toys too as well as putting on classes and events.

If it’s been a while or you’ve never visited, why not pop into your local library to find out about all the things it offers to your community as well as the chance to read without the restriction of over-stuffed bookcases and the cost of buying books.  The best bit is, if you don't like a book you can just return it and try something else instead which is great for picky readers or kids trying to find what type of books they enjoy.
