As the days get shorter and the crisp autumn weather arrives we all want that warm 'hug in a mug' feeling that comes with a delicious hearty soup.

Soup can be a great way to use up any odds and ends you have in the fridge, freezer or cupboard whether it is that half a wobbly looking carrot, the onion you froze to use up another day or the last handful of lentils in the packet.

 

Soups are also a batch cooking dream meaning you can make enough to feed you today and freeze some portions for a busy day or when you just need something easy.

 

They also work well in the slow cooker, filling your house with a wonderful smell before filling your belly with a tasty feast.
